Do Not Resuscitate Orders (DNRs)

DNRs are actual medical orders, signed by doctors. Patients frequently confuse them with Directives to Physicians. Nurses and other medical personnel frequently misunderstand them. The two documents are very different. The purpose of a Do Not Resuscitate Order is to direct medical personnel not to use heroic measures to save a life or resuscitate someone who might be “brought back” by CPR or other extraordinary means.
