Durable Powers of Attorneys are generally designed to take effect immediately; however, they can also be limited to taking effect when you become incapacitated. A Power of Attorney allows a pre-appointed person to conduct every designated aspect of your personal business in the same way that you could; it does not, however, extend to your medical care.
