Houston Trust Lawyers

You owe it to the people you love to prepare for your inevitable passing. One way to do so is by setting up a trust. Trusts are similar to wills, in that they are legal instruments which can dictate the division of property following a death. However, there are several key differences which can make them particularly complicated. The Houston trust attorneys of Garg & Associates, P.C. have the experience and the dedication necessary to help you with all of your trust needs.

Trusts can be complicated, but they may be the difference between leaving your family with the property they need and having your estate stuck in probate court for years. If you have any questions about trusts or their legal implications, contact a Houston trust attorney today by calling 281-362-2865.

Types of Trusts

There are a number of types of trusts associated with last wills and testaments. Some of the most common are:

Testamentary trusts are the most similar in nature to wills. They are commonly created in association with wills, and they manage the distribution of property upon your passing. Testamentary trusts are most commonly made for minors who have not turned 18 yet.

Revocable living trusts are used in a number of states as a way of passing assets to heirs without sending the property through probate court. However, because of Texas’ probate system, revocable trusts are not as attractive as they are in some jurisdictions. They can be expensive, and usually do not provide tax shelter to the assets.

Spendthrift trusts control how a trust’s assets are spent.
